Art and Design

By Corséa

I describe Yeter Göker as luxurious, glamorous, classy and powerful.A brand that wants women to feel sexy but also glorious.

How do you describe Yeter Göker

Can you share some of the feelings that often sneak into your designs when you're creating?

The main thought is of museum, a thought could be “If my creations would be in a museum how would I want my designs to look like and would people be memorized with it.” The other thoughts and feelings are that I imagine a model in front of me with my creations and also the front cover of a magazine.

When I have my pen and paper I feel calming. I design in my own world and I can do what I like and express myself in the designs I make. I can't put exact words to express my emotions when I design my work. I have been creating since I could remember and it's a lot of different emotions. I would say love, sadness, happiness or revenge.

What’s the biggest risk you have taken?

The biggest risk I have been taking is actually following my dream and believing in myself more than anything. Fashion design is not the easiest and you have to have raw talent to do good in the industry. It took me a long time before choosing my dream.

I'm still new to the fashion world and have a long way to go. I hope one day I’ll see my designs in real life on the runway and have my very own company. Believing in myself is the key to confidence and with patience and hard work, I hope I'll succeed and trust myself.

How important is it for you to establish an emotional connection with your audience through your designs?

To have that connection with my audience is important. When I create something powerful and they feel the same feeling it's even more powerful. For example, one design I made with a gold sun and crystals around the waist with a gold brown fabric holding the body tight. When I created that design I thought about goddess and the paintings in the museums. When I showed my design to my audience they commented exactly the same thought that I had, in that way I felt more powerful.

I want my audience to feel that I have something to show, something different and new and emotional connection is very important to establish the meaning behind my creations.

Can you describe a time when you were at a creative low? How do you deal with moments like those?

We all have times when we feel the lowest when we create our art and design. I had times where I didn’t feel creative enough even though I design every day, those times I would still create and come up with very good ideas, even if I felt the opposite. In that way I learned that you can't stop, just because you don't have the creative mind doesn't mean that you should stop. Get up, get your pen and still create. Designing for me is one of the most important steps and to really work with the last step, the first step needs to be good to make the whole process well.

And what feeling do you get when you look at your earlier designs?

When I see my earlier designs I feel proud and happy. The improvement is showing and I know if I'm 20 now with these creations I can do much better in future and that brings me joy and excitement for the future of Yeter Göker.

What’s one piece of advice that has stuck with you through thick and thin?

The one advice that has stuck with me through years is to motivate myself by saying “If you like others more it's fine but I think I am the best.” It's about trusting yourself and loving yourself.

If you think you’re the top, then you are. You can't let anybody put you down because of what they think and like.

What are your biggest design inspirations?

My biggest inspiration is overall fashion history and mostly my own designs. I can also get inspired by everything I see from a lamp to a shoe. Since I was a kid I have loved history and museums because it's inspiring and unique.

Many years from now, what do you hope people will say about your designs and their impact?

I hope people will say that my creations are unique and extraordinary, something everyone should take a look at. I want people to see my side of fashion and how much I love fashion.
